FAQ

Please note that Palm Cove weddings provide you a very experienced, friendly and helpful marriage celebrant who will facilitate the required legal process.a

All couples wishing to marry in Australia must complete a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) which can be obtained from your officiator or the Attorney-General’s Department’s marriage webpage. https://www.ag.gov.au/FamiliesAndMarriage/Marriage/Documents/New-notice-of-intended-marriage.pdf

The Marriage Act 1961 has recently aligned with the Electronic Transactions act, therefore your officiator is able to accept scanned copies or photos of the NOIM.  Once they have confirmed the scan/photo has been received in good order, you will be able to discard the original.

Along with the (NOIM) copies/photos of your Passports OR Birth Certificate AND Drivers License, must be sent to your officiator.

Just to clarify that if you have a passport, this is the easiest way to verify your identity, age and place of birth (so your birth certificate won't be required at all if you have passports).

If either party has been married in the past, a photocopy of the divorce certificate "Decree Absolute" or the death certificate will need to be produced to provide evidence of dissolution.  (Sighing of the original document is no longer required).

The only thing your officiator will need to sight in person, is your photo ID, i.e Drivers License, Proof of Age card, or Passport to verify identity.

We will arrange the pre-wedding meeting at a convenient time for you on your arrival.

Marriages performed in Australia are fully recognized in your country. However, once your legal Marriage Certificate is received from the Australian Department of Births, Deaths & Marriages, some countries require in addition an APOSTILE stamp. (Which can take several weeks).  Your Celebrant can assist you with this.
